Everything we get asked most about washing a car in the UAE with WashBox: how booking works, why waterless and steam are safe, what our prices cover, and how we handle khamsin dust, coastal salt and summer heat.

## Booking and coverage

**How do I book a wash?**

Send an email to care@washbox.ae with your area or community, whether you are in a villa or a building, the make and rough size of your car, and the day and time that suit you. We reply with a written quote and an available slot, usually within one working day, and only book once you confirm.

**Which areas do you cover?**

We serve 30 communities in Abu Dhabi and 25 in Dubai, 55 in total, with Abu Dhabi as our main service area. Coverage keeps growing, so if your community is not on the list it is worth asking. We will tell you honestly whether we can reach your street, and we can often cover addresses close to an area we already serve.

**Do I need to be there during the wash?**

No. As long as the crew can reach the car and get to all four sides, you do not have to wait with it. Many customers leave keys or access details with building security or a concierge. Just tell us in your enquiry how we will reach the parking bay.

**Can you wash my car in a covered basement?**

Yes, covered and basement parking is where a lot of our work happens. Waterless and low-water steam methods mean no puddles or run-off on the floor, which building management prefers. Let us know the floor level and bay number so the crew arrives ready.

**How much notice do you need?**

The more the better, but we often fit in same-day or next-morning washes when slots are free. Early mornings book up fastest in summer, so send your preferred window as soon as you can and we will confirm the nearest time we can hold.

## The eco method and water use

**How can you wash a car with almost no water?**

Our main method sprays an encapsulating polymer that surrounds each dust and dirt particle and lifts it off the paint. A plush microfibre towel then wipes it away without dragging grit across the surface. For a lightly soiled car this needs only about a litre of water, mostly for rinsing towels.

**What is dry-vapour steam and when do you use it?**

Dry-vapour steam is low-pressure, low-moisture steam that softens baked-on grime, bird mess and road film so they release easily. We bring it out for heavier soil, lower panels and wheels where a plain wipe would not be enough. It cleans deeply while still using a fraction of the water a hose needs.

**How much water does a WashBox wash actually use?**

A conventional hose wash runs through roughly 150 to 200 litres. A WashBox waterless wash uses about one litre, and even our steam work tops out around ten litres for a heavily soiled car. Where we do use water it is deionised, so it dries without leaving mineral spots.

**Are the chemicals safe for the environment?**

Yes. We use biodegradable, pH-neutral products chosen to be gentle on paint and on the ground they eventually reach. Because we use so little water there is almost no run-off carrying detergent into drains, which is one of the bigger hidden problems with traditional hose washing.

**Why does using less water matter in the UAE?**

Fresh water here is energy-intensive to produce, much of it from desalination, so every litre saved has a real cost behind it. Washing 45 cars our way instead of by hose saves thousands of litres. In a desert climate that is a difference worth making on something as routine as a car wash.

## Paint safety and finishes

**Is a waterless wash safe for my paint?**

Yes, when it is done properly, which is the whole point of our method. The polymer spray lifts and encapsulates grit so the microfibre glides rather than grinds. The risk in any wash is dragging dust across dry paint; our products and clean towels are designed specifically to avoid that on a lightly to moderately soiled car.

**Can you wash a car with a vinyl wrap?**

Yes. Wraps are happy with gentle, pH-neutral products and soft microfibre, which is exactly what we use. We avoid high pressure and harsh solvents that can lift wrap edges over time. Tell us it is wrapped when you book so the crew treats seams and edges with extra care.

**Is it safe on a ceramic coating?**

It is well suited to coatings. A ceramic layer is meant to be maintained with pH-neutral washing and no aggressive chemicals, which matches our approach. Regular gentle washes actually help a coating keep its water-shedding behaviour. Let us know the car is coated so we skip anything that could shorten its life.

**Do you wash cars with paint protection film (PPF)?**

Yes. PPF, like wraps and coatings, prefers low pressure, neutral chemistry and soft contact, all of which we use as standard. We are careful around film edges so nothing lifts. Just mention the PPF in your enquiry and we will handle those areas gently.

**What about matte or older, thinning clear coat?**

Matte finishes and delicate older clear coats need a no-gloss, no-abrasive touch, so we skip sealants and glossing products on matte and keep contact minimal on fragile paint. If your clear coat is thin or flaking we will say what we can safely do and what is better left to a specialist.

## Pricing and payment

**How much does a wash cost?**

Exterior washes start at AED 20 for a quick Express Refresh on a small, lightly dusty car. A full Signature Eco Wash with steam, wheels and a sealant top-up starts at AED 45, and a four-wash Monthly Care plan starts at AED 69. Fleet and building work is quoted individually. Every price is confirmed in writing before booking.

**Why is there no fixed price for my car?**

Because a fair price depends on the actual job. A tall, dusty seven-seater in a deep basement is more work than a small saloon parked in the open, and washing weekly is quicker than clearing three weeks of grime. We price the real car in front of us rather than an average, and always agree it first.

**How do I pay?**

We keep it simple and set out the exact terms in your emailed quote, including how and when to pay. Because the job is agreed in writing before a crew is scheduled, you always know the amount and the method in advance, with nothing charged until you have confirmed the booking.

**Is the monthly plan cheaper than paying per wash?**

Yes, per wash it works out lower. Monthly Care bundles four scheduled washes for one car, and regular visits are quicker because dirt never builds up, so we can offer a better rate. If you prefer flexibility, the Express and Signature washes are always available one at a time.

**Do you charge VAT?**

Prices shown are indicative starting points, and VAT applies where it is due. Your written quote sets out the full figure including any tax before you commit, so the number you approve by email is the number you pay. There are no charges added quietly after the wash.

## UAE conditions

**My car is covered in khamsin dust, can you still wash it?**

Yes, that is routine work for us. Thick khamsin dust is exactly where the steam step earns its place: it softens the grit so we can lift it without grinding it into the paint. A heavy dust load takes a little longer and sits in the Signature range rather than the quick refresh, and we will price it honestly.

**I park near the sea and get salt haze, does that damage paint?**

Coastal salt film is corrosive if it is left to sit, especially on trim, wheels and lower panels. Regular washing is the real defence, so many customers near the water move to a Monthly Care plan. We pay particular attention to the areas where salt collects and rinse them properly where water is used.

**There are bird droppings on my paint, will they stain?**

They can, because droppings are acidic and etch clear coat fast in the heat, so the sooner they come off the better. We soften them with steam and lift them gently rather than scrubbing dried-on marks. If they have already left a faint mark we will tell you whether a normal wash clears it or not.

**Building sprinklers leave white spots on my car, can you remove them?**

Usually yes. Those white rings are mineral deposits from hard sprinkler or irrigation water drying on the paint. We can dissolve and lift most fresh spotting during a wash. Long-baked deposits are tougher, but we will assess them and tell you honestly what a standard wash can and cannot remove.

**When is the best time to wash in the summer heat?**

Early morning is ideal, before the panels get too hot, which is why our day starts at 07:00. We avoid working on scorching midday paint where products can flash off too fast, and often move to shaded or covered parking. Booking an early slot in summer also means a more comfortable, thorough job.

## Fleets, buildings and businesses

**Do you wash company fleets?**

Yes, fleets are a core part of what we do. Whether it is a handful of pool cars or a large operational fleet, we set up a recurring exterior wash schedule that fits how and where the vehicles are parked. Everything is quote-only so the rate reflects your real volume, and it is confirmed in writing before we start.

**Can a whole building book together?**

Yes. When several residents in one tower or compound sign up, we can wash them in a single visit, which keeps the cost per car down. Ask your building management or a resident to email care@washbox.ae with the number of cars and the parking floors, and we will arrange a shared wash day and rate.

**How is fleet pricing worked out?**

It is based on how many vehicles, their sizes, how often you want them washed and how easy the parking is to reach. We take those details and reply from care@washbox.ae with a written schedule and price. Nothing is charged until you approve it, and the agreed rate holds for the term of the arrangement.

**Can you wash vans and larger vehicles?**

Yes, we handle cars, vans and light commercial vehicles, all exterior only. Larger and taller bodies take more time and product, so they are priced above a standard saloon, but the method is the same eco wash. Tell us the vehicle types in your fleet and we will factor their sizes into the quote.

**How do we get started with a business account?**

Email care@washbox.ae with your company or building name, how many vehicles, roughly how often you want them washed and where they are parked. We will reply with a proposed schedule and a written quote. Once you approve it we set up the recurring visits and a single point of contact for any changes.
